A point cloud is not a deliverable
Reality capture firms produce beautiful data. What the client actually asked for is a model they can design against — and the gap between those two things is where most scan projects stall.
ARIA closes that gap. We take registered scan data in and hand a modeled, documented, tolerance-stated Revit or CAD deliverable back.
What you get
- Existing conditions models — architectural, structural, and MEP existing geometry modeled from the cloud at a defined LOD.
- As-built documentation — floor plans, RCPs, elevations, and sections produced from the model, dimensioned against the scan.
- Point cloud registration and cleanup — noise removal, decimation, unification, and export to RCP or E57 where you need the cloud usable alongside the model.
- Deviation analysis — model versus scan comparison showing where the built condition differs from design, with a heat map and a written tolerance statement.
- MEP as-builts — routed ductwork, piping, conduit, and equipment modeled from scan, which is the highest-value and most commonly skipped part of the job.
- Partial-scope modeling — sometimes you only need the structure, or only one floor, or only the mechanical room. We scope to what you actually need rather than modeling everything.
Tolerance is the whole conversation
“Model it from the scan” is not a scope. Modeling a warehouse shell to plus or minus one inch and modeling a mechanical room to plus or minus a quarter inch are different jobs with different prices, and the difference matters enormously to whoever has to build against the result.
So every scan-to-BIM quote states the modeling tolerance and the LOD per system, in writing, before work starts. At delivery you get a statement of what was modeled to what tolerance and what was excluded — the document your client will ask for six months later.
For reality capture and survey firms
If you sell scanning and your clients keep asking whether you can also model, ARIA works as a white-label modeling partner. You keep the client relationship and the invoice; we produce the model to your standard, under your name if you prefer. It is a natural pairing: you already have the data and the trust, and modeling is a capability most scanning firms deliberately chose not to build.
Common questions
What scan formats can you take?
E57, RCP/RCS, PTS, PTX, and the common proprietary exports. If your scanner outputs something unusual, send a sample file and we will confirm before quoting.
What tolerance do you model to?
Whatever the project requires — it is stated in the quote per system, typically between a quarter inch and one inch depending on use. Tolerance is the single biggest driver of price on this work.
Do you do the scanning too?
No. ARIA models from scan data; we do not operate the scanner. If you need capture, we are glad to work alongside your surveyor or reality capture vendor.
Can you work white-label for a scanning company?
Yes, and several of our best-fit partnerships work this way. You keep the client and the invoice; we produce to your standard and stay invisible if that is what you want.
